Dr. Jacob Ntsholeng Segale serves on the Global Advisory Board of the Centre for Development in Social Justice (CDSJ) under the Institutional Strategy and Growth Portfolio and brings more than twenty years of distinguished experience in public health, research, monitoring, evaluation, human rights programming, and organisational development across Southern and East Africa.
Since January 2021, he has served as Research Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Unit Manager at Sonke Gender Justice, where he has supervised the RMEL Unit, published four articles within eighteen months, secured three research-specific grants, contributed to fundraising exceeding ZAR 50 million, developed monitoring and evaluation systems, and established a document repository to preserve organisational history.
Immediately prior to this, he served as Senior Technical Advisor at the Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute, where he developed comprehensive M&E systems for key populations programming, conducted the institution's first data quality audit and verification process, and developed a Power BI visualisation system that saved the organisation approximately ZAR 5 million annually.
Earlier, Dr. Segale served as Senior Technical Advisor for Global Programs at Anova Health Institute, supporting the development of the AFYA4MEN information system and providing technical support to EQUIP teams in Zambia, Namibia, Haiti, and Mozambique. From 2007 to 2016, he served as Regional Training and Capacity Strengthening Team Leader at the AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa, leading HIV, TB, and human rights programming across eighteen countries and contributing to fundraising of approximately ZAR 90 million over thirteen years.
His board service includes Nisaa Institute for Women's Development, CITAM+ Zambia, AMSHeR, and the South African Medical Research Council Study Board on GBV in Gauteng prisons. At CDSJ, he brings exceptional strategic, analytical, and institution-building experience to help shape the organisation's long-term growth pathway and position it as a credible, learning-driven African institution.
