Adv. Motlatsi J. Mofolo is Founder of the Centre for Development in Social Justice (CDSJ) and serves as Programmes Director for Governance, Gender and Human Rights. He holds a Master of Laws in Human Rights Law, a Bachelor of Laws, and an MSc in Sustainable Development from the University of Sussex, and is an alumnus of both the Mandela Washington Fellowship and the International Visitor Leadership Program.
With nearly a decade of experience across governance, gender equality, human rights, child protection, social justice programming, and institutional development, he has held senior and technical roles in organisations including Women and Law in Southern Africa, Gender Links, Sonke Gender Justice, Nairasha, and DHAOL.
His portfolio includes leadership and implementation experience on major donor-funded initiatives supported by USAID, PEPFAR, the Global Fund, UN agencies, Femnet, and other international development partners, with work spanning Southern Africa, East Africa, and parts of Latin America including Lesotho, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Madagascar, Mauritius, South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, Georgia, and Guatemala.
He has served in key roles including Country Director at Gender Links, GESI Advisor and SBC Lead for the USAID-funded Lesotho Khutlo Activity, Programmes Manager at Nairasha, and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at WLSA. He also holds the position of Chair of the Global Fund Lesotho Country Coordinating Mechanism and has served as Programming and Strategy Advisor to the UN Women ESARO Regional Youth Steering Committee.
As founder of CDSJ, he has brought this depth of regional, technical, donor, and institutional experience into shaping the organisation as a credible African platform for accountable governance, inclusive development, and transformative social justice leadership.
